The 2024 Commencement Ceremony for Master's and PhD recipients in the Graduate Division of the School of Arts & Sciences will be held on Friday, May 17, at 10:00 AM in Irvine Auditorium.

The Graduate Division is pleased to announce that our keynote speaker for graduation 2024 will be Professor Dorothy Roberts.

Join us to hear Dr. Gwendolyn DuBois Shaw, Class of 1940 Bicentennial Term Associate Professor in Penn’s Department of the History of Art and Graduate Chair, speak about how Dr. Barnes built his iconic collection, his unique view of art and whom it was meant to serve, and finally, how the Barnes Collection continues to fulfill that mission today.

“Living the Hard Promise“ on Campus
In the fall of 2023, Penn Arts & Sciences announced the “Living the Hard Promise” series, an initiative to create spaces for the University community to begin the process of working through a period of tremendous challenge. Over the course of the spring, the series engaged students, faculty, and staff in programs examining the purpose, history, and challenges of open expression; the purpose of universities; and the role of social media in contemporary public discourse.

College of Liberal & Professional Studies Graduation Ceremony
Students graduating from LPS programs are invited to two celebratory events: the LPS Graduation Ceremony and University Commencement. At the LPS Graduation Ceremony, your degree program will be called to the stage and your name will be announced. At the University Commencement, students from each school at Penn are seated and stand together as the President announces each class as a whole.
